Google+ Bookslingers Blog: Good News, Bad News

Good News, Bad News

So the good news is: I have finished the Advanced Search page! ( provided moral support.) This means that Bookslingers' central mission is now actually possible: detailed searching for books. My list of ~1,000,000 things is now down to about 12, at the very top being "WRITE REVIEWS" with several underlines. Basically the framework is done. Now it's time to create content.

The bad news is: We have to write about a hundred reviews, at least half of those before we do our beta run in February.

(We are currently seeking volunteers for the February beta; people to run amok through the site and run searches and poke at things and tell us what needs fixing and what's already awesome and help us generate, among other things, questions for our FAQ. Comment below or drop a line at admin at bookslingers dot com before the end of January if you have a couple of hours to kill during the 2010 Olympics. We plan to do the beta then because your humble founders, and myself, plan to hole up in our apartment for the duration and hide from the tourists who will certainly descend upon Vancouver in their thousands.)

We also have to go to school and work and schedule practicums and do projects and write papers and eat and sleep during that time.

So we're entering the home stretch, but like any race it's the part where you ignore the horrible burning lung-pain and just go because you haven't come all this way just to come twenty-sixth.

Uh. Okay, I didn't get a lot of sleep last night. Pretend that metaphor made sense.

At the moment we're still hoping to meet our March 1st launch date. We shall see!
